Liberal Think Tanks
Liberal think tanks seem to be funded less and many probably were formed as a counter to the successful conservative counterparts.
Center for American Progress (located in DC), progressive public policy and advocacy organization, founded by John Podesta, former Chief of Staff to President Clinton, Legal Counsel to President Obama, and 2016 Clinton campaign chair. Podesta was caught up in the 2016 campaign/email controversy (his computer was hacked). The mission stressed: "improving the lives of all Americans, through bold, progressive ideas ..." Web page started with: "Don't let Trump Start a War with North Korea," then the need for bipartisan legislation on healthcare.
Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (DC), focuses on federal and state budget policies, including "reducing poverty and inequality and restore fiscal responsibility." Web page stressed the Republican budget plan to cutting programs for low-income people as a bad idea.
Center for Progressive Reform (CPR, also located in DC) to "protect health, safety, and the environment." Web page says scary things about the Trump/Republican agenda.
Demos (New York City), multi-issue organization for counter-arguments to right-wing think tanks. Goals include reducing money in politics, creating a diverse, expanding middle class, and elevating the values of community and racial equality.
Economic Policy Institute (DC), affiliated with labor, economic research including needs of low- and middle-income workers. Web page starts with: "Don't let Trump take the overtime pay raise away."
